The Hyvinkää ice sports centre is a place where you can see joy of physical activities, rosy cheeks and working together for a common goal every single day when the 600 enthusiasts of the Hyvinkään Jää-Ahmat play ice-hockey.
A year ago, Jää-Ahmat moved on to the cloud era when the club effortlessly replaced their ordinary enterprise e-mail service with the diversified Microsoft Office 365 Office package. Chairman Ari Torikka of Jää-Ahmat explains that club activities are mostly based on volunteer work and that there is just a handful of paid employees. For this reason, any work behind the scenes must take place efficiently for the club activities to be pleasant and well-organised for everyone. The new solution has brought new flexibility to the everyday life of the club.
Independent of time, place, and device
“A major change has been that the Board members can now join meetings remotely on Skype from abroad or while driving a car, for example. In addition, meetings with sponsors and other cooperation partners can be conducted when they best suit the participants, place-independently. It is a further improvement that our gear supervisor is able to update Excel sheets on OneDrive at the exact time required.“
"Communication and the flow of information have improved, because e-mail is easily accessible and the shared calendar is available for everyone. In addition, we have chat in use, and the Office 365 services can be used on any device. With all the data saved securely, we can concentrate on work with the juniors. Not everyone will become an NHL star, but being involved in a team sports gives you a better position to prepare for your future life”, says Torikka with a smile on his face, and sums up that the new service was a spot-on choice for the club.
Challenge: Sports clubs such as Jää-Ahmat usually have just a few paid employees while the rest take care of their responsibilities as a hobby. This presents a challenge to having meetings and handling club issues with efficiently. The tools and services must be in order.
Solution: Jää-Ahmat brought into use the diverse Office 365 Office package, working with all devices, as a replacement for their Enterprise e-mail service.
Benefits: With the new service, updates are automatic and information security is in order. Information flow and keeping in touch have been facilitated as a result of remote meetings, chat, and shared calendar view. To update Excel sheets, there is no need to switch on the laptop, but the task can be done from the gear room, for example, with a tablet or smartphone.
